Why do I blog? It’s mostly selfish.
- It acts as my own personal journal which is kept reasonably up to date (go ahead - laugh if you want). When I get around to scrapbooking (which I admit isn’t often), I don’t have to think about what to write about a certain event. If it’s important enough to scrapbook, it’s likely already been captured on my blog.
- I’m not a very good writer, but I want to be better. So … putting my journal out for public consumption encourages me to be a think about my writing and to try to be a better writer. It amuses me that people actually want to read this stuff!
- On the not-as-selfish side, it really does let me keep our long distance friends up to date on the happenings in the Reed household.
In light of that, I don’t worry too much about how many hits I get or don’t get. I check the statistics only maybe once a week out of curiosity to see how many hits and to see where they come from. BUT … having said all of that, I feel like I’ve been graced with my 15 minutes of blog fame in the way of a link to my blog from scrapbooker extraordinaire Stacy Julian’s blog. I have to admit that when I saw my name listed there with a link to my version of her “Give Yourself a Present Challenge”, I was totally stoked! So much so that I was compelled to call Angie immediately and practically squeal in delight to her.
And, that is my 15 minutes of blog fame. :-)
