Every girl with curly hair knows the importance of a diffuser. Without them, we end up a frizz-haired mess. (Of course, we end up that way anyway sometimes, but at least we tried!) Most girls with curly hair have figured out that spending money on a good hair dryer is also a sound investment. If you had told me 5 years ago that there was a world of difference between my $16 Conair and a $100 Chi, I would have scoffed. No so today because last year when the $10 diffuser popped off my $16 Conair bipping me in the head one too many times, I gave up and broke down and bought the Chi with the custom fitted diffuser. Seriously … why didn’t someone twist my arm sooner?!?!? Life has never been the same since. Okay – maybe a little over dramatic, but you get the point.
Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago when I reach into the cabinet to pull out my hair dryer and find that – oh, crap! – my diffuser has broken. I’m sure the boy got his hands on it and I didn’t even notice when I took it away from him that a piece of the plastic the holds it onto the dryer had been broken off. I said a few choice words, put it back on the dryer, and did a ridiculous balancing act to try to dry my hair without it falling off. Suffice it to say that a few more choice words later it didn’t work. Here’s the problem … you don’t just go to the beauty supply and buy this diffuser. I knew I was going to have to call Chi and order one and I just didn’t want to know how much that stupid, but incredibly vital, little piece of plastic was going to cost me. Worst case – I’d be buying a whole new hair dryer. Remember it took me YEARS to buy the 1st one! So I suffered in relative silence.
A little later that week, Chris said very casually that I had a small surprise coming in the mail in a week or so … it’s bigger than a mouse and smaller than a house, was all he would say. (A very old joke going back to the 1st birthday we spent together – that turned out to be a 24k gold Meatloaf CD … seriously!) Anyway, I was intrigued but soon other things caught my attention and I more or less forgot about it until a rather odd shaped envelope arrived for him sans return address a few days later. When he got home he told me to go ahead open it. Ohhh – this was my surprise! Low and behold, it was a new diffuser! Turns out that my blissfully unobservant husband had noticed my muffled swearing each and every morning and apparently got tired of hearing so he took matters into his own hands, called Chi, and talked his way into a new FREE diffuser! That made my freaking day! It really is the little things in life that make a huge difference.
Maybe Chris had a different motive in securing the new diffuser. He (Chris) did not want Logan to pick up new words that could have caused some problems in WalMart! Glad your "hair drying" time will be sans, those extra words
