The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) will open the northern portion of the Sam Rayburn Tollway to traffic on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009--three months ahead of the completion date outlined in the Authority’s project agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation.
Known as “Segment 3” it extends approximately seven miles from Hillcrest Road to Hardin Boulevard in Collin County. The new segment rounds out 23 miles of the Sam Rayburn corridor, a vital roadway that extends southwest to northeast through some of the region’s fastest-growing communities. The roadway features six main lanes and all-electronic toll collection.
The next portion of the SRT extends from Hardin Boulevard to east of U.S. 75, and will feature the new, four-level SRT/U.S. 75 interchange – soon to be a distinctive landmark and a symbol of the NTTA’s commitment to better mobility. Segment 4 is scheduled to open by January 2011. The final portion consists of adding direct-connect bridges between the SRT and the Dallas North Tollway. It scheduled to open by January 2012.
